My Objectives:

I am now pursuing a portfolio career transitioning from Executive to Non-Executive Director Roles; supporting organisations governance and risk needs through “Shackleton Consulting Plus” and helping to resolve disputes through “Shackleton Mediation Plus”. I am a Director of Seracares Ltd which is an early phase Technology and Training business in the Care home and domiciliary care sector. I am seeking to expand my work on boards with the additional of one paid Non-Executive Director role. I am interested in joining the board of organisations that have an international exposure and operate in these sectors manufacturers, retailers or wholesale logistic companies where acquisitive growth or cultural change is a key component of the future.

About me - My Experience:

I am a Successful Governance, Risk Management, Change Management, and Anti-fraud Professional experienced in manufacturing, the fast moving consumer goods, logistics and retail, telecoms and energy sectors in organisations that have international operations. I have expertise in both pre-acquisition and post-acquisition due diligence and integration of businesses in the SME and Corporate sectors. I have a detailed knowledge of UK, US and Japanese corporate governance provisions.

I am an accounting, internal audit and risk management leader by training.  I have vast experience in senior executive level roles in business units and at corporate offices.  I have both created strategy and evaluated the process and effectiveness of strategy created by others.  I specialise in leading cross functional business process evaluation, business transformation, strategy evaluation and change programmes.  

I am an alumni of the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma, and also have a premium Executive MBA specialising in strategy, corporate finance and operational excellence from Henley Business School.  I have specific expertise working across international boundaries and developing teams. I am also a qualified Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Internal Auditor. 

Most recently I have been working with a growing wholesale and retail organisation helping it to integrate its acquisitions, manage its risks effectively, comply with regulations, improve its corporate governance and make it more effectively meet the needs of its customers.

My time spent in Internal Audit and Business Change allied with my MBA has given me a wide exposure and expert understanding of all the different functions of an organisation.  I understand what the different functions aim to achieve, how they interact with each other and their most common challenges.  I am excellent at interacting with individuals throughout the organisation including at board level.

After finishing my last permanent role in 2015 I have built a portfolio career, as founder and Director of Shackleton Consulting Plus, which provides consulting , training and interim assignment in the areas Risk Management, Corporate Governance, and Change Management and leadership development. I am also a Civil Mediator and former Associate Director of ASM Mediation Plus where I provided strategic advice and external training in the areas of conflict avoidance and resolution throughout the UK and in the Middle East and Africa. I now provide Mediation services through my own business (the number of disputes taken on means that this is not a full time role).

In addition I am qualified and certified to provide 'Coaching Ourselves' (Peer Group Coaching), and a the 'Tipping Point' Change Management workshops.

Training & Consulting Services:

Shackleton Consulting Plus provides consulting , training and interim assignment in the areas Risk Management, Corporate Governance, and Change Management and leadership development. If an interim role is inside of IR35 I am happy to engage personally either through an Umbrella Company or on a fixed term contract.

I will be delighted to discuss how I and  Shackleton Consulting Plus can help you or your organisation.  I am happy to discuss all modes of engagement from contractual consulting, interim assignment or permanent employment roles.  My passion is to work in roles that enable me give value in the areas of strategy, risk management, growth, change management or similar areas to a business or charity that is struggling to achieve its best when faced with significant changes or ambiguity in its internal or external environments.  

Mediation & Dispute Resolution Services:

I am also interested in working with entrepreneurs who have an excellent idea but need someone with wider strategic and business knowledge to help bring it to fruition.  I have the experience, finance and governance knowledge, ability to provide challenge, understanding of organisational culture and customer needs, and gravitas to be an effective Non-Executive Director and would be delighted to discuss any such opportunities.

I am DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) cleared to provide careers advice in schools and colleges in the Thames Valley and will be happy to be DBS cleared for further opportunities to volunteer or work in organisations that have children or vulnerable adults within them.  I do not currently have security clearance but have in the past been cleared to work within the nuclear reprocessing sector.
